micro Q editor

Description

This software is an editor for the Waldorf micro Q synthesizer. It can edit sounds, multis and have a special document type call "set" that can group 16 sounds and a multi.

It is free software Copyright 2006 denis queffeulou. You can copy and distribute this application but you are not allowed to modify it or to get fee for it.

Requirements

• MacOSX 10.3 or 10.4, should also work on 10.2 but not tested.
• A Waldorf micro Q. I have tested on the rack version 2.22.
• A MIDI interface.
• A MIDI sequencer or a MIDI thru software.

Knowns problems

• The FX2 doesn't work
• Memory leak: i think i resolve most issues
• Set store format
• The envelope mode doesn't seem to work with my microQ. The sysex seems good but nothing happens.

Operations

Configuration

First you have to select MIDI device for in and out in Preferences.

You can choose if a sound has to be sent on open.

Sound edit

Multi edit

If you just want to edit a multi, just get the current multi from the micro Q "Patch->Get multi edit buffer" and start to edit.

Set edit

A set is a group of 16 sounds and a multi which are stored into the set. The goal is to retrieve all sounds used by a song and to send them to the the synthesizer in a simple manner. There is no need to save individual sounds because the sound data are in the set but you can do it if you want to export a sound from a set.

First you create a new set then for each part you have

• the "get" button retrieve the current sound part of the micro Q
• the "edit" button opens a edit window for the sound
• the "load" button can load a sound file into the part. The sound is not transmitted to the synth, you have to edit it and send it "Patch->Send", or clic on the "Send all current sounds".

When you edit a sound the part number is specified in the sound window in a yellow field. Don't do edit several times without first close the previous window. Don't edit a drum map, this is not yet supported.
