For Native Instruments Kontakt, Audio Genetics Lab has released Native Flute, a sample library of raw flute sounds, effects, and mutated flute tones.
Native Flute samples would work well as effects for your existing tracks, melody snippets in global or world music compositions, additional textures and pads for ambient tracks, and more. This sample library offers 31 patches of raw flutes, effects (fluttering crescendos, boomerangs, overblown accents, short phrases, fading out repetitions, and more), and mutation sounds sampled at 24-bit, 96 kHz resolution, for Kontakt 3.5 and higher.
We don’t know what kind of flute was sampled for this library, though the flutes on the audio demos on the company’s Web site feature the dexterity and quick runs made possible by a traditional concert band flute, combined with the breathiness and soft attack associated with a pan flute or wooden flute.
Audio Genetics Lab does say that, “For reasons of privacy and national security, we cannot reveal the exact identity of the aerophone used for this genetic mutation project. It is the belief of the lab that the sound of the instrument is the real identity, and we are very pleased with the timbres yielded from the compression and rarefaction of air generated by expelling oxygen and carbon dioxide gases through the aerophonic pipeway.” Okay.
