Cycling ’74 Vizzie

Cycling ’74 has announced that with the latest version of Max / MSP and Jitter comes a new set of modules called Vizzie to help you create your own unique video programs. Vizzie is the company’s first “high-level modular system designed to open up the world of Jitter to anyone.” Vizzie comes included with Max 5; to check it out for yourself, download the Max 5.1.7 update from the company’s Web site.

With Vizzie, you just grab a few simple modules, connect them together and almost instantly have a VJ rig or interactive video work complete with real-time effects, according to Cycling ’74. Along with the Vizzie modules, tutorial videos are available to guide you through the process of getting started with Jitter patches. Once you’ve gotten a few basics under your belt, says the manufacturer, you will be exploring the world of video effects, automated mixing, and more.

You can use the Vizzie modules to create performance visuals quickly; you can drop in video players, effects boxes, automation generators, and MIDI connections, seamlessly with all of the Jitter programming you already know. To spice up your Jitter patches, you can insert Vizzie modules into your existing patch to test out new effects chains, connect your hardware, or create a tight performing interface.

Vizzie is included in Max 5.1.7 (or later) and is free for existing owners of Max / MSP / Jitter 5 owners. New users may try a free 30-day demo of Max.
